Footpaths and Public Rights of Way

One of the main aims of the Ramblers Association  is to ensure that all footpaths, bridleways and other Public Rights of Way (PRoW) are maintained to an appropriate standard so that they may be enjoyed by all users.
It is therefore important that any problems such as broken stiles, blocked paths or unauthorised diversions are reported to the relevant highways authority, which in most cases in our region will be Essex County Council.

Temporary Footbridge Closure on PRoW 37 in Coggeshall

Note footpath order dated 17 October 2019 made for temporary closure of footbridge on FP37 near Curd Hall in Coggeshall as below. This is known as Dick Nunn's bridge and was given grade 2 listed status reference 1471715 by Historic England on 12 October 2020. Repairs and renovation are expected to take place in summer/early autumn 2021 and the footbridge then reopened to the public.
